Jasmine's Biography
Jasmine Howell, otherwise known as Jazz, is a lively, and dedicated seventeen year-old with many creative talents. Born in the city of London in June 1992, her star sign Gemini drives her creative ambition to write and sing great pop music with a twist. Jazz is currently studying for a Btech qualification in Art and Design at a London 6th form college.
Having a Japanese mother and an English father means that Jazz has been exposed to two different cultures and this has helped her to develop her own unique musical style. Through watching the popular Japanese drama Hana yori dango she discovered the artists Ostuka Ai and ARASHI who have both been major influences in her artistic development, Otsuka Ai in particular inspired her to start learning the piano. Additionally, going to live performances of Western style Rock arists, such as Green Day and Avril Lavigne inspired her to pick up a guitar.
Jazz started learning guitar at age 12 and piano at 13 and has played gigs at many cool London venues both in bands and acoustically. As she has grown up she has been exposed to many different styles of music which have lead to her creating contemporary pop music in her fresh and individual style. The music of Lily Allen, Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift all impelled Jazz to take her music in a new direction.
Jazz goes to Japan every summer to stay in her home-town Osaka where she enjoys taking in the local fashions and singing karaoke with family and friends. Whilst in Japan she also frequently visits friends in Tokyo, where she loves to indulge herself at The Shibuya 109 shopping centre. In London Jazz gets her style from buying clothes in Camden Market where her uncle works and likes to attend the gigs of her many musical friends, with whom she spends her days in Hyde Park and Regents Park at local events during the summer months.
